She grew up in Southwick while helping her widowed mother Clara and her sisters, and as a young woman worked as a housekeeper in the Southwick community. Tom and Dorothy farmed in Southwick for more than 40 years and raised two daughters, Diane and Sarah.
Joyce is also survived by several nieces and nephews and many good friends. She played women's basketball at Southwick High School, from where she graduated in 1937. She also helped and cared for many aging family members, including her mother and father-in-law.
