After a long and fulfilling life, Shirley passed away peacefully at her daughter's home in Boynton Beach, Florida.Shirley was born and raised in Columbus, Ohio, and lived most of her life in Louisville, Kentucky.He was President of Kaden Companies, a commercial real estate development, investment and management company.He was also past President of the local chapter of The Building Owners and Management Association and served 12 years as Chairman of The Louisville Metro Parks Board.When not on the golf course, you could find Bert and Ann Leah, his loving wife of 51 years, at the race track or at a U of L game.He never missed a sporting event or recital for any of his grandchildren and viewed his family as his greatest legacy.
He graduated from Bloomfield High School in 1938, Union College in 1942, and Columbia University College of Physicians and Surgeons in 1946. He is also survived by 4 great-grandchildren: Jacob, Henry, Leo, and Lena. Louis, MO; daughter, Connie Rieser (Rabbi Louis) of Windham, NH; brother, Ivan Goldstein (Ruth); 11 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren.Shirley loved traveling, going to movies, reading, being with her family and having fun with friends.She touched the lives of many people with her smile and generosity, and maintained her trademark sense of humor all the way to the end.She is survived by her loving father, Morris Kaplan; beloved children: Deborah (Buckner) Tomlin and David Mink; much loved sister, Dana Camodeca (Dr.Silvio) of Des Plaines, IL; devoted brother, Steve Kaplan (Ilene) of Chicago, IL; her cherished grandsons: Dylan Tomlin and Miles Hatchett; and many lifelong family and friends.
