It is also recognized that these devices can become distractions to the academic environment and therefore, negatively impact instruction.
The district has created this policy to govern the possession and use of electronic devices on school premises, during school-sponsored or school-related events and on school transportation.1.
The basic curriculum of each elementary, intermediate, and middle school shall consist of reading/language arts, mathematics, science, social studies, and the arts, which may be taught by regular classroom teachers.These include, but are not limited to cellular phones, pagers, smart phones, music and media players, tablets, laptops, notebooks, netbooks, e-Readers, and i Pods.The possession of an electronic device by a student on school property or while attending school-sponsored or school-related events is a privilege, not a right.• Possessing, viewing, sending or sharing video or audio information having sexual, violent or threatening content on school grounds, school events or school buses shall be prohibited and may result in disciplinary action and/or confiscation of the personal device.5.Accordingly, the use of the audio recording, video recording or camera functions of electronic devices is strictly prohibited on school premises at all times, unless teacher approval is given for specific instructional activities.1.The De Soto County School District requires that the Mississippi Curriculum Framework competencies and objectives be included in the scope and sequence of every subject area.
